Sharing

File Sharing (approximately in German: sharing files, joint file access) is the passing on of files between users of the internet. Although this also generally means the downloading of data (Download) from a server, it is usually considered to be the passing on of files via a so-called peer to peer network. A special computer program (software) is required to access networks of this type.

Stand alone

Stand-alone-Servers work in the network, independently from domain controllers. They are not members of the domain and function instead like work group servers. A Stand-alone-Server is configured in many cases with a minimum of safety controls with the intention of making the data freely accessible to all users.
